Coming home from the barbershop after getting a fresh haircut, you begin to brush your hair in hopes of obtaining waves on top of your head. Waves are lines that form on top of your head after brushing for a long period of time, say 15 to 20 minutes per day for a week or less depending on how well trained your hair is and the texture. Furthermore, you may brush your hair for the first 3 days after getting a haircut, but as the days pass by you start to see how tedious the process of obtaining waves can be. First, your arms start to get tired after constantly performing the same motion with them. Secondly, some people will get discouraged after noticing that they have made no progress with their waves. Thirdly, some will get uncomfortable staying in the same position for 15 to 20 minutes straight every day. Therefore, the innovation called the “Groom360” by RideTheWaveInc will restore the faith you lost in the process of obtaining waves. The “Groom360” brushes your hair for you eliminating all of the tedious back and forth motion with your arms and freeing up more time to do more around your home. As of today, this kind of innovation has not come to fruition, however, this is an essential product due to the fact that not everybody is willing to brush their hair for a specific amount of time and with this product you are allowed to set how long you would like your hair to be brushed for. Including many more components such as, three different bristle types: soft, medium, and hard, The “Groom360” analyzes the texture of your hair so that it knows the kind of bristle is best for your hair, this innovation has removable bristles, a heightened roof to allow the brush to return and repeat the same motion for the time allowed, measures the size of your head so that everybody of all sizes can benefit from this innovation, and there is also an app connected to with this innovation in order to make this possible which is called “Groom360 Mobile”. Naturally, many inventions have their positives and drawbacks and the “Groom360” is no exception as it will be discussed in the upcoming paragraph.

 

 

The initial proposal to Groom360 exterior design was to create a hooded hair dryer like a product that will allow users to groom their hair. Its design will allow for constant energy as the energy source will come from a power outlet. The design would rest at a fixed position and will be limited to the length of the power cord. As further thought went into Groom360 and its limitations, a more compact and portable product was decided as a fixed position and a limited distance from a power source would restrict the use of the product. A battery-operated Groom360 will make for a portable design. The new design will make Groom360 more desirable. One could now use it in different areas as opposed to a fixed location. It allows the user to be mobile and move around with the device.

The initial interior design would consist of many small brushes that would move from the center of the product and around the groove of the interior on tracks towards the edge of the Groom360. This design would require many moving parts and consume battery power. It would also make it harder to track the area cover since the tracks move in a linear fashion. The modified version will use one brush hosted onto the amount. The mount will connect to four retractable arms that rest against the interior. The arms will move around the edge of the product and will be able to cover all areas of the dome. There was thought of the type of brushes the device would use. Initially, users were allowed to use a brush of their liking and host it onto the mount. This makes it difficult to make the device as small as possible due to unknown measurements beforehand. The ideal brush would be slim and light so that the device can be compact thus creating a brush tailored to the design of the Groom360 would help achieve those results. The new design will also make it easier to program what area of the user’s head it needs to cover. Small sensors will be installed onto the Groom360 and will collect data on size, circumference, and area. With that information, the brush will be able to adjust to the area needed to cover.

Description of Groom360:

Instead of using the idea to create it as a hooded hair dryer, we have decided to create the Groom360 in the form of a helmet for a lightweight feel and to reduce the cost for the material. This helmet will be slightly extended at the top, creating room for the brush to operate around the head.

Components of Groom360:

1. Adjustable Brush Holder: The Groom360 comes with three different texture brushes (soft, medium, hard) not attached to the actual machine. This helps with flexibility for different hair textures, or lengths that are presented. To use it, the desired brush would need to be attached to the Groom360.
2.  Heightened Roof: the roof of the helmet allows for room for the brush to operate, as we make sure to catch every angle of the head. To allow for better waves, when brushing, one must catch every angle of the head, and spend time on any side of the head that is not as strong as the others.
3. Sensors: Because head sizes and hair textures vary in everyone, we used sensors to determine the texture of your hair, and to measure the size of your head. This will aid in helping the brush in the desired angles and directions to create the best waves possible.
4.  App-Based: We have decided to launch an app, to aid in creating a better brushing experience. We have decided to call it Groom360 Mobile, and we have decided to make a Bluetooth feature to sync it with the helmet itself. Each Groom360 Helmet has its own designated code, to help pair it up. From there, you can set the timer for the brush, and create a schedule and routine for brushing. The app also comes with a recommended schedule for beginners who desired waves. Once you set the timer, it automatically starts brushing your hair for you, given the specific time.

 

The “Groom 360” is a remarkable hair accessory that is capable of doing something that no other hair item that is ever developed is able to do. The “Groom 360” has its own unique design which helps with the functionality and productivity of the product. The helmet is made out of reused plastic material which is made to be lightweight for use purposes. Self-Reflection:

We came up with the idea of a self-brushing machine during the zoom meeting where we all had to get in touch with our groups. At the very beginning, I had only made contact with David, While we were creating the group chat to for all the group members I saw David’s face cam, he was brushing his hair just like how I was, then I immediately thought to myself how tedious it is to constantly be brushing your hair for long periods of time. Then after that, I presented the idea to David and Rohit and they were immediately on board with the idea. My thought process was to present something that most people can relate to while at the same time something that will be fun to speak about. Everybody involved in this group played a major role in the making of this paper, David gave the name “Groom 360” to our innovation, Rohit gave us our company name “RideTheWave.Inc” and Emmanuel presented the idea of how tracks should be running through the helmet so that they can reset back to their position. Now I can talk about all the components each and every one of us added to this innovation but then this paper will have another 5 pages. As far as the images themselves, each and every one us took our computers and drew how we visualized our innovation and then we put those ideas together so that it makes more sense in our minds and the person viewing this product. Furthermore, the video creating of this product will prove to be tougher than the writing because we lack visuals and we might have to make some sacrifices so that the video is clear and that it hopefully eliminated any confusion with our audience. Overall, I enjoyed brainstorming with my partners in this project and the concept of this innovation came out exactly how we wanted it to, and we know that many people can benefit from this innovation if it were to exist.
